Long Weekend

Hello Families,

Thank you for all of your hard work this past week.  This new way of learning is quite different but your support and resiliency is greatly appreciated.

A reminder that tomorrow is Good Friday, a statutory holiday, so there will be no school. Monday is a PD Day.  Next week's plan will be posted Tuesday, April 14.  On Monday, teachers will be meeting with Mr. MacDonald in their grade groups and I will be attending a webinar on new guidelines for assessment and reporting.

Have a great long weekend!

Ms. Yong

Google Classroom

Our Google Classroom is almost ready to go and our class code will be sent out by Monday afternoon!  Students, please check your ____@educbe.ca account Monday. Here are some useful links to help you become familiar with our virtual classroom:

Getting started
How to turn in an assignment

Once you have access to our classroom, the week of April 6-10 learning plan will have been uploaded.  Please have the activities submitted by 9 am the following Monday.  For example, next week's assignments will be due by Monday, April 13th.

However, I understand that it will be challenging for families to work from home while trying to help their child(ren) facilitate these tasks.  If the workload seems too overwhelming or time consuming please let me know and I'll try my best to help modify tasks/we can extend the due date.

As a grade team, we tried our best to keep these lessons simple and easy to follow.  Some of the activities you'll be able to print out if you'd like to.  If you don't have access to a printer, that's okay!  We tried our best to make the templates easy to replicate with pencil and paper.

We want to thank all of our families for being so resilient.  Please know that we are here to help you!

Ms. Yong

P.S. Keanu update:

... sleeping, again!

Google Meet

A big thank you to everyone for joining our Google Meet this afternoon.  It was so wonderful seeing your smiling faces.  I'm not sure how often we will be using Google Meet, but it would be nice to catch up once in a while!  I appreciate how some of you even dressed up for the occasion (E.H. I love how you were wearing a tie)!

Currently, your teachers are setting up their Google Classrooms and planning learning activities for next week.  I will create another blog post to notify when you can access our classroom!

If you'd like to get notifications whenever there is a new blog post, enter your email into the top right corner labelled 'Follow by Email' and click 'submit'.

Take care,

Ms. Yong

P.S.  I was hoping my colleague would make an appearance during our meet today.  However, he has been taking lots of naps on the job!  Wait until Mr. MacDonald hears about this...

Email and Google

It was so nice to have the opportunity to talk to families over the past couple of days.  I'm glad to hear you're all healthy and happy.

Please see my email "Email and Google" for step-by-step instructions for Google Meet and Google Classroom (we have yet to add students on our roster).  For those students that require password resets, I will email new passwords as soon as I can.

If you require help, please watch this video created by Ms. Day to get you started.

On Google Meet your child will only be able to see 4 members at a time on their screen.  If you'd like to add a Chrome extension so all members will be able to be seen, please click on this link.  Once you've added the extension, you'll be able to see it by your address bar in the top right corner.  However, you'll need to click on the option (it'll be on the Google Meets screen, a 3x3 grid, beside the chat icon) during a Google Meet to use the grid view.  This extension will not work on a tablet. Adding this extension is completely optional!

Families were also sent a link to our April 2 meeting at 12:00 pm.  Please do not use the link until our meeting time.  The purpose of this informal meeting is to provide students a bit of face-to-face interaction and ensure there are no issues with access.  Students will take turns sharing and saying hello to one another.  However, if we can start off by muting our microphones it will help the meeting run a bit more smoothly.

See you soon!

Welcome Back!

Hello Grade 3 Families,

Please keep an eye out for an email from me this afternoon outlining some of the next steps for learning adventures. I will also be phoning students over the next couple of days to check in and respond to any questions from the email.

You need to know that you are missed at school but we are really excited about what lies ahead for us, and we will be sharing details with you through this coming week.

Happy belated birthday to B.B. whose birthday was on March 23!

Hello!

Hello Grade 3 Families and Friends,

I've been thinking a lot about our grade 3 community; please know I'm thinking of you and hope to see everyone soon!  Our classroom just hasn't been the same without 25 of some of my most favourite people!

Here is a link to the CBE Learning at Home page which may provide some useful links for the time being.

Stay tuned for more updates after the break!

P.S. Happy Belated Birthday to M.P. - Keanu and I hope you had a great day with your family.  We will make sure you get to chose a birthday card when we come back.

P.P.S. Speaking of Keanu, he asked that I share these majestic and absolutely adorable photos of him.
