We are working on number sense in grade 3. Last week, we started by reviewing place value to the thousands. Then, we practiced representing numbers in different ways (see our anchor chart below). We are reminded that we do not say 'and' when saying a whole number because 'and' represents a decimal! For example, 345 we say three hundred forty-five not three hundred and forty-five (300.45).
Today, we looked at patterns within the hundreds charts to practice determining what one more/one less and ten more/ten less is.
Please help your child practice! The tricky ones are numbers like 799, 209, 500 when more than 1 digit changes if adding or subtracting 10.
